Our love story is one of the better ones because we started as friends. We met in high school is Mr. Dunn’s Spanish class. We spent high school being little more than acquaintances that talked every once in a while. Alan graduated one year before me and went off to college. The next year, I graduated from high school and went off to college. February of my freshman year, my friend Marie (my matron of honor), calls me out of the blue and asks if I want to go to a get together at a friend’s lake house. Of course I agreed. Well, Alan was at the lake house that night and this renewed our friendship. We both spent the next few years keeping occasional contact as friends through social media. In May of 2010, we ran into each other, and decided to do dinner the next night. We went out to eat at the Varsity in Asheboro. After dinner, we wanted to do something fun, but it was Asheboro and there was a lack of things to do. So we went out to Pinewood Golf Course and sat out in the dark and watched shooting stars. To say it was romantic and sweet was an understatement. Two days later, we went out on our second date, a Greensboro Grasshoppers game. We were inseparable from there on. On August 7th, 2010, Alan asked me to be his girlfriend and have grown together ever since. Alan proposed to me in Las Vegas on July 2nd, 2013. We said “I do” on June 1st, 2014 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was a beautiful religious wedding in a gazebo over the clear water of the Carribbean Sea. Our life together has just began and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
